Freedom Games and Halberd Studios have announced that the Nintendo Switch version of the pixel art Metroidvania game, 9 Years of Shadows, will be released on November 9. The game originally launched on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on March 27.
9 Years of Shadows immerses players in a world that has been in deep darkness for nine long years, depriving objects and living beings of their color. What was once a thriving civilization has forgotten the warmth of the sun, the joy of laughter, and the promise of a prosperous future. While many brave people have attempted to delve into the corrupt depths of Talos Castle, an ancient orphanage from which the curse comes, resignation has become the daily routine of the people, losing all hope. Except for one person.
Armed with her halberd and unwavering courage, brave Europa has a clear mission: enter the castle, find the source of darkness and restore color to the land before it is too late. Embark on a life-changing journey, taking on the role of Europa and exploring the haunting halls of Talos Castle as you uncover the disturbing truth about the fate of its inhabitants.
The story is a moving growth narrative that highlights the importance of embracing our feelings to heal. Europa and her loyal companion Apino will learn to depend on each other to overcome obstacles and help others along the way. The soundtrack, composed by Michiru Yamane (Castlevania franchise) and Norihiko Hibino (Metal Gear Solid franchise), plays an important role in the gameplay and narrative.
Face countless enemies on your way to victory, each as impressive as they are deadly. But with the right elemental armor, Europa and Apino are a force to be reckoned with. Explore the stunning surroundings of Talos Castle, where colorful characters, stunning architecture from ancient civilizations, and otherworldly paintings await.
Don’t miss your chance to explore this mysterious world when 9 Years of Shadows arrives on Nintendo Switch on November 9.
