SEGA has announced that the game 404 GAME RE:SET will end its service on January 5, 2024 at 12:00 JST, just under a year after its launch. The decision to end the service is based on the difficulty of offering a satisfactory experience to users in the future, as stated by SEGA in a statement.
Update 1.4.0 to add offline supported mode Update 1.4.0, scheduled for late November, will add offline support. Through this mode, users will be able to review the game’s scenarios and the characters, figures and other items acquired after the service ends. However, battles will no longer be available in this mode. Users will need to download and save their game data to their device between December 13 and January 5 to access it offline.
History and notable collaborations 404 GAME RE:SET was first released on iOS via the App Store and Android via Google Play on April 25 in Japan and Asia. The game follows the story of the player, who lives in a world distorted by “SEGA” and must fight against them to restore the world as it was. The game has featured collaborations with SEGA, Bandai Namco, SNK, TAITO, Capcom and others, with famous games appearing in the form of female characters. Until the end of the service, new features will continue to be added to the main story, new characters, figures and additional events.
The announcement of the end of the 404 GAME RE:SET service is a reminder of the changing nature of the video game industry and how companies adapt their services based on user feedback and circumstances.
