The publisher Clouded Leopard Entertainment announced that Earth Defense Force 6 will launch for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on March 14 in Asia, with audio support in English, Korean, and Chinese, as well as text in English, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. In the west, Earth Defense Force 6 is expected to be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam this spring, although an exact release date has yet to be announced.

The Primers left behind many alien colonists, and the two species have become increasingly hostile to each other. The number of invasive organisms nesting in the depths of the earth and its ruins continues to increase. Once again, the Earth Defense Force is called in to protect the planet from aggressive alien invaders and discover the true purpose of the giant ring-shaped object that has appeared in the sky.
