The new Micro SD Express cards required by the Switch 2 are much more expensive than regular Micro SD cards, but right now you can pre-order Nintendo’s cheaper 256GB Samsung Micro SD Express card for £47.35 on ShopTo when you use the code SPRING at checkout.
That’s significantly less than the Lexar Micro SD Express cards that are the only 256GB options available on Amazon UK, which are retailing for £80. SanDisk’s 256GB cards are a bit cheaper than that on the SanDisk Store at £56, but that’s still £9 more expensive than this ShopTo deal. Plus, you get a nice Mario-branded high-speed memory card for your Switch 2.

Samsung 256GB Micro SD Express (Official Switch 2 version)
|
If you’re not familiar with Micro SD Express, these new cards offer a big speed boost over conventional Micro SD cards and only launched a few months ago. SanDisk, Samsung and Lexar are the first three companies producing cards, which offer transfer speeds up to 900MB/s – or around four times faster than the fastest Micro SD cards. This is into NVMe SSD territory, and therefore a huge advancement for the tiny form factor.
Given that the official Switch 2 Pro Controllers have already gone out of stock on ShopTo after only an hour or so of availability, I’d recommend checking this out rapidly if you’re in the market for a 256GB Micro SD Express card.
Stay tuned for more Switch 2 deals as we find them!
