Controversy in Love Live!: CD delayed after criticism for possible use of AI

The cover of the single presented several graphic inconsistencies that ignited the community's suspicions.

A new controversy shakes the universe of LoveLive!. The group Hasu no Sora Jōgakuin School Idol Club announced that his eighth single, titled “Hajimari no Haneoto”, will change its release date of the November 26 to the December 24. According to the official statement, the delay is due to “errors in the cover illustration,” accompanied by before and after images of the corrections.

A delay that arises amid strong suspicions of AI

Although the explanation includes only “errors in the art,” the situation occurs just after fans began to point out possible indications that the illustration had been created using generative artificial intelligence. These accusations arose from October 31when the original cover was revealed.

On social media, several users analyzed the image in detail and found multiple problem areas. These include hands with the wrong number of fingers, impossible anatomical poses, and visual elements that appear deformed or unfinished. These errors are characteristic of images generated using AI models without proper post-production.

Errors that fueled the discussion

Community comments highlighted very specific points:

  • A hand that appears to have a missing finger.
  • Another hand whose angle appears to be simultaneously facing and facing away.
  • Clothes with unrealistic or duplicate folds.
  • An ear with an irregular shape, without anatomical coherence.
  • An area of one of the girls' bodies that appears to be “cut” or incomplete.

Due to these observations, comparative animations and detailed analyzes pointing out inconsistencies began to circulate. The staff published a corrected version, but without offering more details about whether it was used or not. AI during the original production.

An official position? For now, silence

Until now, the team LoveLive! neither confirms nor denies the use of artificial intelligence tools to create the single's cover. The only official statements are limited to mentioning the existence of “bugs” and the need to correct them before launch.

However, the debate is open: while some fans consider that these are simply human errors, others believe that the visual anomalies are too characteristic of AI-generated illustrations.

The conflict comes at a particularly sensitive time for the industry, where the use of AI in commercial materials continues to be a controversial topic among artists, companies and consumers.

Do you think the original illustration for “Hajimari no Haneoto” used AI? Or was it just poorly executed human error?
