Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster coming to next-gen consoles and PC in February 2024

The exciting news has been announced by developer Nightdive Studios: Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam starting February 28, 2024. This remaster brings back a Star Wars classic that was originally released for MS-DOS on February 28, 1995, followed by its arrival on the PlayStation on November 30, 1996.

Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster has been completely revitalized by the Nightdive Studios team through its proprietary KEX engine, allowing the game to run on modern gaming devices at up to 4K resolution at 120 frames per second. Both new and returning players will enjoy improved gameplay, high-resolution textures, improved lighting and rendering, and gamepad support.

The original Star Wars: Dark Forces, released in 1995, set a new standard in first-person shooters, offering players a high level of movement and interactivity, a wide selection of items and upgrades, as well as captivating environments.

In this Star Wars first-person shooter, players take on the role of Kyle Katarn, a deserter from the Galactic Empire who becomes a mercenary in the service of the Rebellion. Katarn joins the Rebellion’s black ops division with the task of infiltrating the Galactic Empire, where he discovers the secret of Project Dark Trooper. The development of this new series of Imperial battle droids and power armored soldiers threatens to strengthen the Empire’s control over the galaxy, unless Katarn and the Rebellion intervene.

Star Wars fans and first-person shooter lovers can look forward to the return of this classic with improved graphics and updated gameplay. February 28, 2024 will be a date to mark on the players’ calendars.
