Developer Creepy Jar has announced a title change for its sci-fi co-op first-person shooter, Chimera, which was announced in June. The new name of the game will be StarRupture, a choice that Creepy Jar founder and CEO Krzysztof Kwiatek says more accurately reflects the dangerous sci-fi world they are creating.
Reasons for Title Change: In a press release, Kwiatek explained: “We wanted to find a new title that more accurately describes the dangerous sci-fi world we are creating. “We had to move away from the mythology-based roots of Chimera and came to StarRupture.” The name originates from the base word “rupture,” which means rupture or disturbance, and is also closely linked to the name of the planet’s star, called Rupture.
Global Promotion and Protection: The unique name “StarRupture” also facilitates the promotion of the game and its online positioning, as well as providing better overall protection of the word mark. As part of this transition, Creepy Jar has released the first in an ongoing series of developer logs for StarRupture, providing fans with a deeper look at the name change and the game’s progress since its reveal.
Transparent Development: Known for their desire to be transparent with their community, Creepy Jar plans to release more developer logs in the coming months, giving players an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the development process. From production milestones to previews of the game’s mechanics, enemies, and mysteries, the developer is committed to keeping fans informed, just like it did with Green Hell.
About StarRupture: StarRupture is set in the story of man’s fight against nature in a stunning and supernatural sci-fi environment. The game presents elemental cataclysms of extreme temperatures as constant dangers. Players take on the role of a convict exiled from Earth to serve out his sentence by mining, expanding industrial production, and researching new technology on a seemingly hospitable planet filled with mystery and danger.
Challenges and Gameplay: In both single-player and up to 4-player co-op, players will explore, adapt, extract resources, and build complex machinery to survive and thrive. Despite being a base-building simulator, StarRupture goes further, challenging players to stay resilient and sharp against each assault, building and forming in the face of cyclical eviscerating conditions on a beautiful planet.
Release and Platform: StarRupture will be available on PC via Steam, and players will be able to immerse themselves in this exciting sci-fi world when the game launches in Early Access.
