Alan Wake, from the Remedy Entertainment series of the same name, arrives as a playable survivor in Dead by Daylight

Developer Behavior Interactive announced that Alan Wake, the tormented writer of Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake series, will join as a playable survivor in the final chapter of Dead by Daylight. The public test version featuring Alan Wake will be available for the PC version via Steam starting January 10 at 8:00 am PT / 11:00 am ET. Full patch notes are available here.

“We are excited to bring Alan Wake, our tortured writer, to the acclaimed Dead by Daylight,” Sam Lake, creative director of Remedy Entertainment, said in a statement. “We feel that the mythology of our two horror experiences is a perfect match in the Dark Place and we can’t wait to experience the horrors that await you in the Mist.”

Key details:

  • Alan Wake’s appearance is based on the character’s physical actor, Ilkka Villi, and features the iconic voice of Alan Wake, played by Matthew Porretta.
  • A public test version will be released on Steam starting January 10.
  • Alan Wake brings with him three Perks, survival skills honed by his terrifying encounters in Bright Falls and beyond.

Alan Wake Perks:

  1. Champion of Light: Increases movement speed while shining a flashlight. Upon successfully blinding an assassin, they gain the Hindered Status effect, temporarily slowing them down.
  2. Boon:Illumination: Creates a Boon Totem, allowing all nearby survivors to see the Auras of Generators and Chests on the Map. Additionally, by having a Boon Totem turned on, you will cleanse and bless the Totems faster.
  3. Deadline: Increases the frequency of Skill Checks when healing survivors or repairing generators when injured. If you miss one, the penalty is halved.

Alan Wake plunges into the Mist, taking his story from one Dark Place to another. With flashlights in hand, he will face the darkness in Dead by Daylight, available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC through Steam, Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store.
