CD Projekt RED has revealed exciting news about its next project, Project Orionthe follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077 announced in October 2022. The development team has added several big-name talents to its ranks, the company announced.
Project Orion is being led by CD Projekt RED North America, based in the United States and Canada, and is currently in the early stages of development. Studio veterans who were involved in Cyberpunk 2077 and its “Phantom Liberty” expansion are leading development. This group, now part of a broader team based in the newly formed Boston, Massachusetts studio, includes notable figures such as Game Director Gabriel Amatangelo, Associate Game Director Pawel Sasko, Creative Director Igor Sarzynski, film director Andrzej Stopa, environment art director Kacper Niepokolczycki, lead mission designer Sarah Grummer and engineering director Kacper Koscienski.
Joining forces with the team today, the arrival of new members was announced:
- Dan Hernberg joins the team as executive producer. Hernberg has extensive experience in the industry, having worked at Amazon Games, Panic Button and Blizzard Entertainment, contributing to titles such as New World, Apex Legends and Diablo III, among others.
- Ryan Barnard, former game director at Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft, as well as gameplay director at IO Interactive, will bring his experience as design director.
- Alan Villani joins the team as director of engineering, with a career that includes having worked as vice president of technology at Warner Bros. Games, contributing to the technical development of several Mortal Kombat installments, among other titles.
- Anna Megill, an award-winning video game writer with 20 years of experience, joins as lead writer having contributed narratively to titles such as Control, Dishonored: Death of The Outsider, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Guild Wars 2 and the upcoming Fable.
- Alexander Freed, a New York Times bestselling novelist and narrative designer with more than 15 years of experience, joins as a writer, having worked at BioWare on titles such as Star Wars: The Old Republic, and having collaborated with studios such as DICE, Obsidian Entertainment and Wizards of the Coast.
These new additions promise to further enrich the talented team behind Project Orion, generating exciting expectations among fans and the video game industry in general.
