Supermassive Games’ full statement reads as follows:
“It’s no secret that the video game industry is facing significant challenges today, and unfortunately we are not immune to this. Therefore, after much deliberation and with deep regret, we are undertaking a reorganization of Supermassive Games. As a result, we are entering a period of consultation, which we anticipate will result in the loss of some of our colleagues. This is not a decision that has been made lightly, with many efforts made to avoid this outcome. We are acutely aware of how unsettling and difficult this process will be for all of our employees and will work closely with everyone involved to ensure the process is carried out in the most respectful and compassionate manner possible. “We are committed to focusing our efforts on our core strengths and upcoming titles to ensure the continued sustainability of the company.”
This announcement highlights the economic challenges facing the video game industry and underscores the difficult reality that many studios face amid economic uncertainty and market changes.
