Nintendo Switch 2 is available for pre-order right now in the UK at Argos. Other retailers like Smyths and Very also went live early (with pre-orders expected to start April 8), but are now out of stock.
Amazon UK is yet to go live, but has instead opened up using an invite system for potential pre-orders. Users can “request invite”, and after confirmation from Amazon via email, those successfully invited to purchase will be notified from now until the Switch 2’s release, June 5th, 2025.

If it’s your first time trying to secure a console during a hotly anticipated launch, here are some quick tips. For starters, try not to refresh your browser once you’re in a retailer queue, it’ll just kick you to the back these days. Also, make sure you have an active account with your payment details saved to speed up the process on sites like Amazon.
With the Amazon listing already live, and pre-orders not available yet, add it to your wishlist and once your invite to pre-order is available, you’ll be able to add to cart without competiting the traffic from everyone else flooding into the page.
Switch 2 release date
The Switch 2 will be released on Thursday 5th June.
Yes – that is the promised day! Make it down on your calendars, definitely don’t skip school (I won’t tell on you) or book the day off work (cos I definitely can’t…). This date also marks the release of the Switch 2 launch titles, which you’ll find listed down below.

Switch 2 price
The Switch 2 will be £395.99 / $449.99 / 469.99 € or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency.
The Switch 2 and Mario Kart World bundle will cost £429.99 / $449.99 / 509.99 € or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency.
Keep in mind that this pricing only covers the base console from Nintendo and the prices listed above are from the official My Nintendo Store. The cost will obviously rise if you purchase games and other additions, like extra controllers. It may also differ between realtors and you should be very careful of scalpers or scams.
Here’s a quick rundown of the Switch 2 related prices copied verbatim from the My Nintendo Store for the regions shown:
